The Fertiliser Berth
- I and II are functioning as captive berths for M/s Paradip Phosphates Ltd. and M/s Oswal
Chemicals & Fertilisers Ltd. to handle bulk and liquid cargo by fully mechanized
means.
The other Cargo Berths are
multi-purpose in nature and generally used by vessels for loading of Thermal Coal, Chrome
Ore, Manganese Ore, Charge Chrome, Ferro Chrome, Ferro Manganese, Steel Coils and for
unloading of Coking Coal, Hard Coke, Limestone, Food-grains, Fertiliser, D.B.M., Steel
Billets, Scraps, etc.
Container Handling Facilities
Facilities also
exist for handling limited number of CONTAINERS. The Stack-yard close to the Cargo Berth
can accommodate a good number of Containers. The Containers are to be discharged by the
Ship¡Çs own cranes/ derricks or by wharf cranes on the berth.
The Port Authorities plan to
encourage handling of containers to cater to the needs of exporters/importers located in
the Port¡Çs hinterland. A detailed techno- economic feasibility study for providing
container handling facilities including a Container Freight Station (CFS) is being
conducted by the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Expression of Interest has been invited
for setting up container handling facilities at the Port including berth, container
parking yard and CFS on BOT basis.
Integrated Fishery Harbour :
At present, Paradip is the most
important centre in the State of marine fishing. Now about 300 mechanised boats each of 10
m length and 50 trawlers each of 13 m length are operating here. An integrated Fishery
Harbour for 370 mechanised boats of 10 m length, 80 trawlers of 13 m., 15 trawlers of 15 m
length and 50 deep sea trawlers of 23 m length has been developed for the purpose.
