  How the Dept. is helpful to general people

From village to Urban areas the Dept. is taking Health care of all to prevent outbreak of Epidemic and take care their child and motherhood and also participate to control the birth rate.

  Success Stories

    Schemes Adopted:

  (1) Immunization

Immunization includes routine Immunization to the children below 1 year age and T.T. to pregnant mothers. implemented in 178 nos Sub-Centres under 8 blocks and 2 PPCs in every Wednesday. The Programme is carried out for vaccinating against 6 killer diseases like Diphtheria, Polio, Titanus, B.C.G., Measles and whooping Cough. Funds received and expenditure made shown in the abstract statement.

       (2)  Catch-up Round Immunization

            It has been launched during November, 2005 to cover all the left out cases in the age group of 0-5 years to Immunize against 6 (SIX) preventable diseases. Funds has been received to chalk out the programme. Expenditure has been made and shown in the abstract statement.

       (3) Special Immunization

It has been launched in this district during February 20-26, March, 20-26 and April, 24-30except on Wednesday (Normal Immunization day) in all the blocks purely in outreach and hard to reach pockets to cover underserved infants. By adopting this method the fully immunization status of our district has gone up more than 90% which is much above the state average.

  (4) I.P.P.I  

            I.P.P.I. started in the state during the year 1995 to eliminate the Polio virus from the country. As the children under 0 to 5 years are vulnerable group to the diseases. They are vaccinated against the Oral Polio Vaccine. To chalk out the programme through out the district the funds has been received and utilized for the success of the programme. 

(5)  Vitamin “A” Supplementation Programme -

              It has been launched to cover the children under the age group of 9 months to 3 years. In a gap period of 6months,  in May and November  against deficiency of Vitamin “A” to prevent night blindness and other related diseases

(6) P.N.D.T. Act 1994

P.N.D.T Act, 1994 has been enforced to prevent diagnosis of Sex through Ultrasonography. Public awareness has been done through workshops, message to daily newspapers and contingency expenditure on advisory committee meeting has been done. Funds received and expenditure has been shown in the abstract statements.

(7) Sterilization Operation

            It is a permanent method to accept Family Welfare service, Annual target has been assigned to the 8 no.s blocks and 2 PPCs to meet such targets, Loss of wages, funds has been received and expenditure has been incurred accordingly in the abstract statement.

(8) IMR Mission

The aim and objectives of the mission is to reduce Infant and Maternal Mortality Rate in India. Funds has been received for referral cost of transportation charges to ensure institutional deliveries and expenditure has been incurred accordingly shown in the abstract statement.

(9) Institutional Delivery

            The institutional delivery of the district is 67%. But the I.M.R is 14.83 and M.M.R. is 26.01, which is much below the state average. This is from the source of available registration data available with us. It may be due to under reporting done by the institution. Steps have been taken to carry out sample survey in the district with the help of UNICEF and Accordingly the UNICEF authority has been requested.

  ASHA

Selection of ASHA – 373.

Block level trainers training for ASHA completed – 79/80.

Induction training of ASHA completed in 13 batches – 373.

One case kept pending in the Hon’ble High Court on the pretext of illegal selection.

Registration of  8nos. Rogi Kalyan Samittes for  blocks is already over. The rest one i.e at the District level would be completed very soon

  Hatchery                                   

Ø      District hatchery constructed & reared with fish.

Ø      Block level hatchery constructed & reared with fish.

  Sensitization

      Ø      Sensitization of Medical Officers about GFATM activities have been completed.

Ø      Sensitization of Health Personnel at block level have also been completed during April, 2006.

Ø      8 Nos. of hoardings have been installed at UGPHC, CHC, PHC Headquarters.

Ø      46 nos of wall painting on Malaria message have been written in each health institution.

Ø      1242 DDCs have been functioning in our district. For wide publicity 500nos DDC board have been ereted.

I.E.C.

      Ø      Anti- Malaria month already completed during June, 2006.

Ø      1242 nos of DDCs are to be constructed to the same no of F.T.D.s during October, 2006.

Ø      IEC awareness camps in 50 high risk villages in the district have already been completed.

  Training for Impregnation of bed net :

     2 PHCs staff of Naugaon & Balikuda have been trained. The rest 6 PHCs staffs will be trained.

Survey of bednet

              Survey of bednet not yet taken as per instruction of Collector. However action has been taken to persue the matter with Collector for survey of bednet during 2006—07.

  Early detection & prompt treatment

              All DDC (1200) holder will be trained as FTD holder. The slide box, slide, pricking needle, cotton, & spirit etc. are to be procured & the same training will be completed during Nov, 2006.

The plastic container for anti malaria drugs, containers for spirit etc. will be procured out of funds placed.

It is wise to procure 25 slide capacity slide box as the funds allotted for purchase is insufficient.

  Training of Primary School Teachers on Malaria

              Action have been taken for training of 1179 primary school teachers in 23 batches at block level & sector level by the Medical Officers. After getting the training on Malaria the teachers will present a talk in their schools with the help of one leaflet in which 128829 school students will be aware about malaria. On the other hand 128829 holding member will be aware about malaria.

National Filaria Control Programme

Mass Drug Administration (MDA-2005)

                        For control of Lymphatic Filariasis annual single dose mass chemotherapy with DEC have been conducted in our district on 11.11.05 except children below 2 years, pregnant women & severely ill persons.

This year MDA will be start in December, 2006.

P.R. as on 01/11/2006           0.61 / 10,000 population.    

            More ever the district has achieved the Elimination goal since December, 04 i.e. 0.93 P.R. / 10,000 population. The previous case load of the district as on 01/11/2006 is 69 &  the P.R. /10,000 population is 0.61.

            To maintain the sustainability of Elimination of Leprosy from the district, the routine activities such as patients counseling including POD & IEC activities will be regularly conducted by the General Health Care staff involving AWW, VHG, School teachers / volunteers / PRI members MSS & NGOs to detect hidden cases of the district & brought them under treatment & regular monitoring & supervision to bring down the P.R. further more towards eradication.

REVISED NATIONAL TUBERCULOSIS CONTROL PROGRAMME JAGATSINGHPUR

Ø      Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme was launched in the district on 27th Nov’ 2003.

Ø      Chief District Medical Officer is the overall authority of the programme.

Ø      District Tuberculosis Centre manages the programme in the district.

Ø      District Tuberculosis Officer is the Nodal Officer for RNTCP.

Ø      DTO is assisted by one Accountant cum-Data Entry Operator.

Ø      The District is divided in to two sub-district TB units.

Ø      Each TB unit is managed by : - Medical Officer-TB Control

Ø      10 Designated Microscopic Centres (DMC) are functioning in the district.

                 RNTCP during the month of September’2005 as Refresher training.

Ø      All Pediatrics Specialist are trained on Pediatrics Patient Wise Boxes during the

                Month of August’2006.

The 20 bedded ward with Operation Theatre has been constructed separately where eye OPD is also running. The ward & OT are properly equipped with beds & equipments. Two air conditioners have been fitted in OT & operating microscope has also been installed. OPD is provided with slit lamp, keratometer, A-scan, indirect ophthalmoscope, direct ophthalmoscope & tonometer etc. are in functioning condition.

  One dark room is in district headquarter hospital & two in periphery (Balikuda & Erasama)

  One vision center will function at Balikuda very soon after procurement of equipment & other materials.

No 10 bedded eye ward is in the district.

  Constraints :

      Ø      One post of Ophthalmic Surgeon is lying vacant due to sad of Late Dr. N. B. Swain.

Ø      In the periphery only one ophthalmic assistant post & rest 7 PHC/CHC have no ophthalmic assistants.

Ø      No class-IV employee for the eye ward, so there is difficulties for  implementing NPCB work & cataract operation camps.

Ø      Most of the local NGOs are not interested to hold eye camps.

Ø      No bus for DBCS for transporting patients.                                                       Top

             

AIDS CONTROL PROGRAMME

STD clinic is functioning at District Headquarter Hospital, Jagatsinghpur. VCCTC (Voluntary Confidential Counseling & Testing Centre) & PPTCT (Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission) are opening in the district at DHH, Jagatsinghpur & B. M. Hosp., Paradeep. Sentinel Surveillance was conducted during 2005 & 400 blood samples were collected from antenatal cases and sent to SCBMCH, Cuttack. The figures cover 100 % achievement.

World Aids Day is being observed regularly in the district on 1st December. Last year it was observed by arranging student rally, press media meeting, debate competition in different schools & a meeting was held at DHH, Jagatsinghpur involving the NGOs, SHG, PRI Members & Govt. Officials to create awareness amongst the people on HIV/AIDs. For target intervention programme on HIV/AIDs started in the district through NGOs.                          

           At present target intervention  programme on HIV/ Aids is being conducted in the district for the Awareness of the public.

              AIDS Intervention programme is going on at Paradeep through NGO - Shradhanjali.                                                                                                                                               Top
