From village to Urban areas the Dept. is taking Health care of all to prevent outbreak of Epidemic and take care their child and motherhood and also participate to control the birth rate.
We serve for the
public health care at all levels.
Institutional delivery
has been increased by 6 % from 61.44 to 67%.
Full Immunization
Status - 91.30 % ( 2005-06).
Schemes Adopted:
Immunization includes routine Immunization to the children below 1 year age and T.T. to pregnant mothers. implemented in 178 nos Sub-Centres under 8 blocks and 2 PPCs in every Wednesday. The Programme is carried out for vaccinating against 6 killer diseases like Diphtheria, Polio, Titanus, B.C.G., Measles and whooping Cough. Funds received and expenditure made shown in the abstract statement.
It has been launched during November, 2005 to cover all the left out cases in the age group of 0-5 years to Immunize against 6 (SIX) preventable diseases. Funds has been received to chalk out the programme. Expenditure has been made and shown in the abstract statement.
It has been launched in this district during February 20-26, March, 20-26 and April, 24-30except on Wednesday (Normal Immunization day) in all the blocks purely in outreach and hard to reach pockets to cover underserved infants. By adopting this method the fully immunization status of our district has gone up more than 90% which is much above the state average.

P.N.D.T. Act 1994
P.N.D.T Act, 1994 has been enforced to prevent diagnosis of Sex through Ultrasonography. Public awareness has been done through workshops, message to daily newspapers and contingency expenditure on advisory committee meeting has been done. Funds received and expenditure has been shown in the abstract statements.
(7) Sterilization Operation
It is a permanent method to accept Family Welfare service, Annual target has been assigned to the 8 no.s blocks and 2 PPCs to meet such targets, Loss of wages, funds has been received and expenditure has been incurred accordingly in the abstract statement.
(8) IMR
Mission
The aim and objectives of the mission is to reduce Infant and Maternal Mortality Rate in India. Funds has been received for referral cost of transportation charges to ensure institutional deliveries and expenditure has been incurred accordingly shown in the abstract statement.
The institutional delivery of the district is 67%. But the I.M.R is 14.83 and M.M.R. is 26.01, which is much below the state average. This is from the source of available registration data available with us. It may be due to under reporting done by the institution. Steps have been taken to carry out sample survey in the district with the help of UNICEF and Accordingly the UNICEF authority has been requested.

Survey of bednet
The
plastic container for anti malaria drugs, containers for spirit etc. will be
procured out of funds placed.
It is wise to procure 25 slide capacity slide box as the funds allotted for purchase is insufficient.
Mass
Drug Administration (MDA-2005)
For control of Lymphatic Filariasis annual single dose mass chemotherapy
with DEC have been conducted in our district on 11.11.05 except children below 2
years, pregnant women & severely ill persons.
This
year MDA will be start in December, 2006.

launched in the district on 27th Nov’ 2003.

Chief District Medical Officer is the overall

The 20 bedded ward with Operation Theatre has been constructed separately where eye OPD is also running. The ward & OT are properly equipped with beds & equipments. Two air conditioners have been fitted in OT & operating microscope has also been installed. OPD is provided with slit lamp, keratometer, A-scan, indirect ophthalmoscope, direct ophthalmoscope & tonometer etc. are in functioning condition.
One vision center will function at Balikuda very soon after procurement of equipment & other materials.

In the periphery only one ophthalmic assistant post &
rest 7 PHC/CHC have no ophthalmic assistants.
Ø
No class-IV employee for the eye ward, so there is
difficulties for implementing NPCB
work & cataract operation camps.
Ø
Most of the local NGOs are not interested to hold eye camps.
Ø
No bus for DBCS for transporting patients.
STD clinic is functioning at District Headquarter Hospital, Jagatsinghpur. VCCTC (Voluntary Confidential Counseling & Testing Centre) & PPTCT (Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission) are opening in the district at DHH, Jagatsinghpur & B. M. Hosp., Paradeep. Sentinel Surveillance was conducted during 2005 & 400 blood samples were collected from antenatal cases and sent to SCBMCH, Cuttack. The figures cover 100 % achievement.
World Aids Day is being observed regularly in the district on 1st
December. Last year it was observed by arranging student rally, press media
meeting, debate competition in different schools & a meeting was held at DHH,
Jagatsinghpur involving the NGOs, SHG, PRI Members & Govt. Officials to
create awareness amongst the people on HIV/AIDs. For target intervention
programme on HIV/AIDs started in the district through NGOs.
At present target intervention programme
on HIV/ Aids is being conducted in the district for the Awareness of the public.
