COOPERATION DEPARTMENT

Structure:

                           The Assistant Registrar, Co-Operative societies, Jagatsinhpur Circle is functioning in the District headquarters to regulate and supervise the working of the Co-Op. Societion through Sub-Asst. Registrar of Coop. Societies, Inspector, Coop. Societies and Coop. Extension Officers of Blocks.

Function / Activities.

                               The function of the Cooperation Department is to regulate the activities of different Coop. Institutions and to provide aid and assistance to strengthen the socio-oconimic activities of the members through different coop. Institutions.

Scheme adopted.

                           The Kissan Credit card system )(K.C.C.) ensure prompt and quick services for availing crop loans as per eligibility of members and by introduction of Kaling Kissan Gold Card system. Adequate benefits are also provided to the card holders as per the scheme. Moreover, to save the loanee members from the hazards of agriculture production like loss of crop, Rashtriya Kruchi Vima Yojena is also being taken up for both members and non-members. Moreover, Banking facilities are provided at the door steps through a good number of Mini Banks functioning at P.A.C.S. level. Consumer articles such as controlled and non-controlled commodities are also supplied through Coop. institutions. Distribution of Chemical fortiliser, seeds are also provided to Cultivators through Coop. Institutions. Coop. Institutions have also undertaken procurement of paddy from the cultivators. Besides Crop finance, the Coop. Institutions have extended lending facilities for pi sciculture, poultry, diary, S.G.S.Y Group finance, other non-farm sector and housing loan etc. By organising women Coop. Institutions steps have been taken to strengthen the Socio-economic base of the Woman sector.

                                       By organising different Coop. Institutions adequate steps have been taken for socio-economic development of general public and specially members of the Coop. Institutions.

Cooperative Program at A Glance

As per the geographical area of the circle,there are 168.331 hectors of land out of which cultivable area is 152.352 hectors.From the above area there is irrigation facilities of 72.409 hectors for Khariff and 40.885 hectors area for Rabi.

Enrolment of members.

There are 1,84,382 nos.of Agril.families under this circle,out of which 1,44,315 nos.of members have been enrolled to the Coop.sector through 113 P.A.C.S.ason dt.30.10.04.The catogorics of members is furnished below.

Loan investment.

There are 113 P.A.C.S. functioning under this circle out of which two societies i.e.Kolar and Dainlo are coded to U.B.I.,Tirtol Branch and the rest 111 P.A.C.S.are coded to Cuttack Central Coop.Bank.The P.A.C.S.are financing loan to their members for Agril.purpose to grow better crop during Khariff and Rabi season.During Khariff-2004 on amount of Rs.1325.77 lakhs have been invested among 19013 members in the district.

Mini Bank.

There are 33 nos.of Mini Banks functioning under this circle,tooncourage farmers and poor people towards thrift deposit in rural areas.The name of the Mini Banks and their deposit position are mentioned below.                                                                                                                                    (Rs.in lakhs)

Issue of Kisan Credit Card.

After introduction of Kisan Credit Card,all the Service Coop.Societios under this circle are financing to their members through K.C.C.both for Rabi and Khariff seasons.Ason 30.10.2004,52,972 nos.of K.C.C.have been issued by the PACS to their members under this circle.Out of the above K.C.C.holdors 2364 nos.of members have been issued with Kalinga Kishan Gold Card and 3516 Kalinga Kishan Silver Card ason 30.10.2004.The position of K.K.G.C.and K.K.S.C.holdors of difforent P.A.C.S.functioning under different branches are noted below.

C.A.R.D.Bank (long term investment)

There is one Coop.Agril.& Rural Dev.Bank functioning under this circle since 1967 havingits area of operation to entire Jagatsinghpur Revenue District.The Bank is financing loan in long term basis both for Agril.and Non-Agril.purposes.The outstanding position of loan ason 30.10.04 is Rs.198.00 Lakh.During the year under report,an amount of Rs.1.99 lakhs have been invested among six nos.of members for Agril.purposes.

House Building Coop.Society.

There are three nos.of House building Coop.Society functioning under this Circle namely Jagatsinghpur sub-Divnl.House Building Coop.Society,(2) Jagatsinghpur Town Dev.House Building Coop.Society (3) Paradeep Town Dev.Housing Coop.Society.The investment made for construction of dwolling house by the above societies ason 30.10.04 is furnished below.

As per the present provision,investment made by the above H.B.C.S. through cradit cum subsidy scheme is given below.

Besides the above Coop.Societies,the following Societies are working under this circle as noted below.

Distribution of Fertiliser.

Distribution of fertiliser is being made by the Service Coop.Societies to its members as 'B' component.During the year under report the P.A.C.S.under this Circle have lifted 236.600 M.T.of chemical fertiliser from O.S.C.M.F.as against the target of 582.850 M.T.during Khariff-2004.

Consumer Business.

There are two consumer Coop.Store functioning under this circle which are dealing controlled and non-controlled business.The turn over of consumer business of the store ason 30.10.04 is Rs.73.70 lakhs.
